If you have ears.. then I’m certain you’ve heard all about Common Bond Cafe & Bakery, Houston’s newest Cafe & Bakery. If you haven’t heard of them then this post should be helpful. Common Bond Cafe & Bakery is known for their decadent pastries, croissants, cookies and cakes. The Cafe & Bakery also offers weekend brunch and delicious lattes that will have you thirsty for more!
For my birthday I treated myself to breakfast at Common Bond Cafe & Bakery. As a self-proclaimed “Food Evangelist”, there was no way I could pass up the opportunity to try one of Houston’s most talked Cafe & Bakery!
Common Bond’s breakfast is what I consider to be “lite fare”; your not going to see pancakes, bacon, waffles, chicken wings, grits or biscuits and gravy on their the menu. The limited choices makes the walk-up counter service a breeze. Though you will find their most popular items right under your nose.
THE FOOD
The beautiful array of pastries, croissants, macarons and sticky buns are what you want. The “Pain Au Chocolat” and almond croissants are killer and are my top two recommended choices. I recommend you NOT wear black pants when eating the powder sugar dusted croissant. The Croissant was so soft and crispy at the same time. The soft, creamy center deserved an encore.
Not into sweets? The soft scramble topped with sauerkraut and fresh tomatoes is another suggestions. It’s served with a portion of french loaf.
The latte was stellar — and almost too pretty to drink. It was the perfect balance of sweetness, caramel and cream. I enjoyed every sip, and was sad when I realized it was all gone. This drink paired with my croissant made for the best birthday breakfast ever. I didn’t leave stuffed and uncomfortable like I usually do at breakfast.
In addition to the sweets there are also an assortment of other breads to pair with your morning coffee, lunch soup, salad or sandwich. You can purchase these breads by the slice or loaf for great prices. Definitely a great way to enjoy Common Bond with the whole family
