Smallcakes Cupcakery and Creamery is a locally owned and operated gourmet cupcake shop that prides itself on creative flavors, quality ingredients, and friendly service. Their gourmet cupcakes are made fresh daily and depending on the shop, serve anywhere from 12-18 unique flavors daily. Smallcakes Humble hosted their official grand opening last week, and I couldn’t be more excited.
There’s nothing like having your own neighborhood cupcake shop, literally feet from your home. They’ve been open for a week. I’ve visited twice, and have eaten eight cupcakes already. I should probably walk there next time.
While everyone is getting their summer bodies together, I’ve been at home breastfeeding and stuffing my face with cupcakes. My sweet tooth has been out of control these last 2 months. Possibly because breastfeeding uses up extra calories, and lowers your blood glucose levels. That being said, Smallcakes Humble was right on time. I’d been eyeing the location for weeks prior to its opening. I even prematurely sent my husband up there before they were actually open. When I received the official grand opening details via Facebook, I immediately marked my calendar.
Upon arrival I was greeted by some of the most gracious cupcakes hosts as well as the owner Bridgette. The icing on the cupcake here is that Smallcakes Humble is black owned. Nothing warms my heart more than being able to support black business, especially when cupcakes are involved. The staff walked me through the various cupcake flavors, highlighting their weekly specialty flavors. As I previously mentioned, Smallcakes Humble offers 12 unique flavors + two specialty flavors that change each week. There is a giant menu on the wall that displays all the different flavors. I legit stood there for 8 minutes trying to decide which to choose.
THE CUPCAKES
Smallcakes Humble serves only the freshest cupcakes. You won’t find any dry, day old dense cupcakes here. My cupcakes from last Monday’s visit are just as fresh as the day I brought them home. Given all the delicious flavors it was tough to pick just one cupcake. That’s a lot of pressure for one person! So, in an effort to not stress myself, I bought four… each time. Did I mention I’ve been twice in a week? I highly recommend the chocolate cream, peanut butter cup and carrot cake cupcakes! Oh.. the lemon drop is a must too! Hell, just get them all.
They also have a custom “Smallcake smash.” A delicious mash up of your choice of cupcake, ice cream and whipped cream. You can’t go wrong with that… it’s basically everything they sale in a cup. Unfortunately, milk and I aren’t friends, so I had to pass on the smash, but It looked so tempting.
