Food + Fun + Community: Houston Black Restaurant Week

Follow your Fork to Houston’s Black Restaurant Week April 17 – April 30th.  Houston’s favorite foodie event offers delicious dishes throughout Houston as Black Restaurant Week presents TWO FULL weeks of Dining + Events!

Black Restaurant Week will be offering its signature prix-fixe dining menus for brunch, lunch and dinner, highlighting Black owned restaurants located throughout the city of Houston’s unique and thriving culinary scene. A portion of the week’s proceeds will be donated to Blue Triangle (formally the first branch of Houston’s YWCA)! A local non-profit focused on providing programs and activities for children and adults, daycare, Bible Class, art, drama and dance classes for the Houston community.

For two weeks – April 17 – April 30th foodies will be able to eat their hearts out at an ever growing list of participating Black owned restaurants featuring  price options for brunch, lunch and dinner! Diners can enjoy three-course prix-fixe dinner menus ranging from $25- $45 per person. Tickets and passes aren’t necessary to enjoy these days of dining; but reservations are recommended.

So many of Houston’s favorite restaurants will be participating, but be warned, their menus will leave you salivating and feverishly marking your calendar and conversing with co-workers on what hot spot you’re going to hit for lunch, dinner or brunch!

Among them are a few of my personal favorites:

Esther’s Cajun Cafe & Soul Food Kitchen,  Holley’s Seafood & Oyster Bar,  Lucille’s, Ray’s BBQ ,  Kitchen 713 ,  Etta’s Kitchen (@Bar5015) and  Live Oak Bar & Grill ..
