Houston Restaurant Weeks | Lunch at 51fifteen Cuisine & Cocktails | #HRW2017

Houston Restaurant Weeks (HRW) kicked off Tuesday and the city couldn’t be more thrilled. HRW is one of the Houston’s favorite foodie events. It selfishly tops my list because it falls the month before my birthday, and is usually spent noshing with friends on discounted meals for a good cause. This month’s “mouth party” will be no different.

Read below as I share WHY you should add 51fifteen Cuisine & Cocktails to your #HRW2017 lunch list.

51fifteen Cuisine & Cocktails is located on the 2nd level of Saks 5th Avenue, inside the Houston Galleria Mall. The venue is beautiful, and it’s centrally located to most areas of town. For Houston Restaurant Week they’re menu consists of light and healthy lunch options. Which was a perfect choice for me and my date!

My mom and I rarely get to enjoy lunch together due to her busy summer school schedule. So when she suggested we meet for lunch during Houston Restaurant Week I was thrilled. So thrilled that I let her pick where we should go… from a list I had made already. There’s no way she was going to look through that massive list, LOL.

She settled on 51fifteen, because she’s a salad/sandwich type chick. I was like “mom, of course you would pick a spot located inside the mall, for lunch!” Being super concerned about traffic, I left work early, only to realize a couple things about 51fifteen that made my visit a breeze.

  • They have a dedicated parking area in the garage! (Purple Entrance)
  • Their quick & efficient valet service is right out front.
  • The Elevator in the garage drops you off inside the restaurant.

What more could you ask for?

51fifteen Cuisine & Cocktails – Houston Restaurant Week Menu

I have a full list of participating restaurants to try this month, and I am happy to have started with something on the “lighter” side. 51fifteen offers a 3-course menu for lunch. Each course includes three options to choose from, with the exception of the entrees. There are four choices.

I highly suggest the Poblano Bisque. It had a very nice flavor, with a bit of heat. Quite frankly I wasn’t expecting a spicy soup because poblano peppers are a more “mild” pepper, but it was delicious! My mom ordered the Roasted Chicken and Brie Club. Though she did not share any of it with me, and took her leftovers home, she look satisfied. I also ordered the Baby Kale & Brussel Sprout Chicken Salad. It was massive! Finally, it was time for dessert. We closed with 51fifteen Cheesecake & Seasonal berries, and the White Chocolate Bread Pudding. Go with the cheesecake!

While i’m not sure how many folks were dining in support of the Houston Food Bank, 51fifteen’s dining was quite lively. Most noteworthy was the in house pianist, who walked about taking requests from guests —  he played John Legend for us. Seems like my Houston Restaurant Week is getting off to a great start. – Thanks for reading!
