The Alabama-based eatery, Chicken Salad Chick, has more than 80 restaurants across 11 Southern states. The nation’s only southern inspired, fast casual chicken salad restaurant concept, has continued its expansion in the Houston area with its newest location in Vintage Park. Located at 10300 Louetta Road, the restaurant marks Chicken Salad Chick’s third location in Houston. Additional Houston market locations are slated to open later this year in Kingwood and Katy.  Chicken Salad Chick offers a dozen chicken salad flavors. Egg salad and Pimento (regular & spicy) cheese can be found on the menu as well.

Are you a fan of chicken salad? If so, you should certainly add Chicken Salad Chick to your list of places to try. Their menu offers over a dozen deliciously fun flavors of chicken salad, egg salad and pimento cheese. During a recent visit to their newest Vintage Park location, I overly indulged on all 13 flavors of chicken salad.

The service at Chicken Salad Chick was impeccable. I truly felt like I was enjoying lunch with old friends. I spent my visit eating and chit-chatting with the General Manager Michelle. She was super knowledgeable about the brand and product. She even gave me great insider tips on the best way to order some of the flavors. I lovingly refer to theses as “Michelle’s pro-tips,” throughout this post!

Chicken Salad Chick | About

Founder, Stacy Brown established The Chicken Salad Chick concept in 2008. Chicken Salad Chick’s robust menu offers a variety of options suitable for any guest. More than a dozen original chicken salad flavors as well as fresh side salads, gourmet soups, signature sandwiches and delicious desserts can be found on the menu. In 2015, Eagle Merchant Partners purchased a majority stake in Chicken Salad Chick, and under the leadership of CEO Scott Deviney and team, the company now has 115 restaurants currently open in 13 states and remains a standout brand within the fast casual segment.

The Menu

One of the best things about the menu at Chicken Salad Chick is the fun names for each of the 12 flavors. Each flavor represents real people in the founders life. Stacy created new spins on classic flavors in their honor, to reflect their personalities and connections. Guests can enjoy savory, sweet and nutty, spicy and traditional varieties of chicken salad. Additionally, they offer a special flavor of the week. Though not a secret ingredient, Duke’s mayonnaise is what makes the chicken salad so creamy and rich. Michelle’s pro-tip: If you’re looking for a way to get the best bang for your buck at Chicken Salad Chick Michelle suggests “splitting a trio.” Enjoy 1/2 sandwich and 1 scoop fro $9.99!

My Favorites | Top Three and an Honorable Mention

Stacy’s “Classic Carol” is used as the base for all the flavors. I must confess that after trying all 13 flavors selecting a favorite was quite the challenge. After much deliberation, I was finally able to hone in on my top three standouts. As fate would have it, the flavor of the day topped my list. The Masala Curry isn’t on the menu, and possibly won’t be available during my next visit (sigh). Indian food is my jam. I instantly fell in love with this chicken salad. The notes of curry and coriander made it sing!

Fancy Nancy topped my list. It was also my husband’s favorite. It reminded me of the chicken salad from HEB (of which I love). The whole grapes, fuji apples and pecans made for a sweeter chicken salad.

Lauryn’s Lemon Basil rounded out my top three. It’s unique combination of lemon, basil and pecans was bright and fresh. Michelle’s pro-tip: Order Lauryn’s Lemon Basil on white bread with lettuce and extra tomato (add some avocado for a real treat!)

Although all the flavors weren’t my favorite, there wasn’t a single one that I disliked. For those that like a spicier chicken salad, the Jalapeno Jolly is my honorable mention. Order this as a classic salad with poppy seed dressing for a fusion of sweet & spicy.
