James Beard winner Chris Sheppard is known in Houston for his fabulous restaurants. Boasting of locally-sourced food inspired by the ethnic diversity of Houston. Underbelly – located at 1100 Westheimer Rd.- sources ingredients from the Gulf Coast, surrounding farms and ranches. Given its central location and accessible parking it’s no wonder that Lunch at Underbelly has become a “thing.”
Though the Underbelly lunch menu changes quite often, it’s always delicious. Because of the seasonal switch ups, diners can expect an interestingly fresh selection process. Diners will find everything from vegetarian dishes to cuts of locally farmed meats from the in house butcher shop. The current lunch menu prices range anywhere from $7 – $24 dollars. Due to the menu’s variety it was hard to make a decision. Mainly because everything looks so good!
Though I am slowly weaning myself off of meat, I opted for the Korean Fried Chicken and Potato Salad. Followed by Chef Sheppard’s famous Vinegar Pie & Salt Brittle. While, my lunch date chose the Shrimp Ceviche Tostadas and Fried Blackberry Pie! Each morsel of food that graced my lips was absolutely delicious.
I highly suggest you add Underbelly to your Lunch in Houston list.
