Do you want to know what makes this classic vegan coleslaw dressing better than all the rest? It’s dairy-free, made with ingredients you already have in your pantry, and it only takes 5 minutes. It may take a little longer if you decide to use fresh cabbage and carrots, but I used bagged classic coleslaw. Don’t judge me!

When it comes to my favorite sides to eat with things like meatballs, chicken wings, and burgers, this dairy-free coleslaw dressing is my go-to. I make it a hint spicy by adding cajun seasoning and top my baked nachos with it as well. I also like to top it with fresh sliced avocado and eat it with potato chips. Needless to say, I eat this classic vegan coleslaw with and on just about everything!

Read below for the step-by-step guide and full recipe for this deliciously versatile vegan coleslaw dressing (without mayo)!

INGREDIENTS YOU WILL NEED FOR YOUR VEGAN COLESLAW

  • Classic Coleslaw (bagged)
  • Vegan Mayo (egg, soy, gluten, and canola free)
  • Creole Mustard
  • Red Wine Vinegar
  • Sugar
  • Cajun seasoning

HOW LONG DOES VEGAN COLESLAW STAY FRESH?

Coleslaw without mayo lasts a bit longer than your traditional dressing. It will keep for 3-4 days in the fridge if stored in a bowl with an airtight lid. After the fourth day, the coleslaw begins to lose its crispy texture but’s it’s still delicious.

CAN THIS RECIPE BE MADE IN ADVANCE?

Honestly, Making the vegan coleslaw dressing recipe ahead of time is a great idea. It allows the dressing to build flavor. If serving this for guests, I’d add the sauce to the cabbage and refrigerate about 1 hour before serving. This step will give your cabbage a bold and flavorful crunch without being soggy.

SERVING SUGGESTIONS

I love serving this coleslaw alongside anything with BBQ sauce or fried. I recently whipped up a batch vegan coleslaw dressing without mayo when I made BBQ turkey meatballs for Emory. We convinced her that the coleslaw is dinosaur food. She gobbles it up because she’s obviously a 2-year-old dinosaur!
