Sorrento Ristorante Italiano is a majestic, upscale restaurant perfectly nestled near Houston’s lively Montrose area. Sorrento offers a delicious variety of robust wines, unique Italian dishes in an elegant and classic atmosphere.
Sorrento Ristorante Italiano is the perfect place to relax with a bottle of wine after a busy work week and offers diners a top notch array of the classic yet unique dishes of Southern Italy. At Sorrento, it’s all about service, ambiance and quality. I recently visited for an early dinner and walked away with a new and totally deserving favorite Italian restaurant.
I will start by saying that I could easily come here for the complimentary bread basket and wine alone. When it arrived at my table my jaw hit the floor. The armoa of freshly baked bread was intoxicating! Images of fresh focaccia, sourdough, twisted bread sticks and crisp flat bread sprinkled with Parmesan danced about in my head.
There’s this specialty house bread made with anchovies that is absolutely divine. When paired with their delicious roasted garlic and olive oil spread you’ll forget you came for real food, but don’t! It’s important that you save room for Sorrento’s heavenly Italian dishes and wine if you wish!
Art on a plate. Those are the words I would use to describe their salads. Their bold in flavor and burst with freshness. The following salads come highly recommended: Red Beet and Orange Salad With Seared Goat Cheese and Balsamic Vinaigrette, Ahi Tuna Salad, Mixed Greens, Feta Cheese and Aged Balsamic (make sure to request the wasabi & ginger accompaniment), and the Grilled Shrimp Mediterranean Salad.
After the bread and salads, there was little room in my belly for much more, but being a sucker for Polenta and all things fried, I had to order two more items that were literally calling my name. The Soft Polenta and Jumbo Lump Crab Cake with Lemon Cream and Calamari Fritti with Spicy Marinara Sauce ended our eating journey on a high note. The Polenta melted in my mouth and the Calamari was perfect!
Sorrento Ristorante Italiano offers affordable lunch items and a $24 dollar, 3-course business lunch menu option. They provide the perfect atmosphere for a romantic dinner and also have a Sunday brunch with live piano music.
