PDQ: Fresh Food, Fast! + a Giveaway bonus

PDQ

PDQ was founded on a concept that high-quality food, memorable service and genuine hospitality are the basis of an excellent restaurant. PDQ values genuine customer service, whether dining in or picking up at the drive-thru. We are committed to doing the things we do the right way. During my recent visit to the fresh, fast-food chain I was wowed by their  fresh hand-battered chicken tenders, made-to-order sandwiches, daily cut fries, hand-spun milkshakes and fresh salads.

Dining Room

PDQ stands for “People Dedicated to Quality”..not “Pretty Darn Quick” as I had initially thought. Even though that’s not what the letters stand for, my visit to PDQ was fresh and fast! Known for their fresh hand-breaded chicken tenders and quality fresh food, they pride themselves on their delicious sandwiches and salads made with the finest ingredients. Their signature sauces and dressings are homemade everyday, and fries are fresh-cut right in the restaurant.

When I arrived it was a packed house. There was a line of cars wrapped around the building for the drive-thru and line almost out the door for inside dining. Being a PDQ “virgin” I had no idea what to do and out of fear of holding up the massive, fast paced line, I literally let the hostess order the food.  Luckily, because the menu only consists of chicken strips, chicken and turkey sandwiches, and fresh salads, it wasn’t that hard for me to agree to what was suggested.

Chicken Tender Combo

PDQ serves 100% all natural chicken, that’s never frozen and contains no added hormones or steroids. You don’t find much of that in the fast food business, but PDQ prides itself in not being your “typical” fast food chain and are known more by their motto of “Serving Fresh Food, Fast.”

THE FOOD

We ordered  the 3 Tenders Meal ($7.69) which comes with hand cut fries and your choice of dipping sauce and a drink. PDQ offers 12 different sauces and dressings that are made in-house, from scratch, daily; and they allow their guests to try as many as they’d like. Now that’s “saucesome.” As you all should know by now I am horrible at making decisions, especially when given multiple options. When presented with these sorts of dilemmas I go to my quiet place, and ask myself what would Chef G. Garvin do? So, I went with the Texas black peppered gravy and sweet srirracha. The gravy dipping sauce was the bomb. Make sure to try that!

G&G with the zucchini fries

Of course we had to try PDQ’s newest menu add, zucchini fries. They are cut, battered and fried fresh just like everything else here. These fries come with a suggested house blueberry-ginger dipping sauce. It was ok, a bit too bitter for my taste, but I enjoyed them with my own mix of ketchup and sriracha. A word to the wise about the fries, eat them fast and while they’re hot. A soft, cold, mushy zucchini fry is no fun.  During my next visit I will try a sandwich and a hand spun shake for sure!

Before my departure Frank Wallace, General Manager at PDQ  offered me a couple of giveaways for my awesome and loyal readers to come out and try their fresh combo meals or their zucchini fries and any of their 54 participating locations. Read below on how to enter!
