Wine and Food Week

If you love wine & food (who doesn’t) then you’re not going to want to miss this year’s Wine & Food Week. June 3-9, 2019 is a celebration 15 years in the making, featuring wine and culinary tastemakers from across the globe! Under the direction of Food & Vine Time Productions, this week-long multi-faceted extravaganza, reunites scores of culinary talent, drawing avid foodies and wine enthusiasts from across the region. Experience national and international wines at wine tastings, wine dinners, Ladies of the Vine Luncheon, seminars, casual events like Sips, Suds & Tacos and the H-E-B Wine Walk at Market Street, all culminating in an elaborate Wine Rendezvous Grand Tasting & Chef Showcase.

Wine & Food Week happens to be one of my favorite events, for many reasons. I know I say this every year, but I mean it. The week long event offers a variety of really fun and informative events. Each year the events get better and better.

Due to the fact that I can’t attend every event on the calendar, I will focus on the events that I highly suggest you attend. It’s a Guy Thing, Sip, Suds and Tacos and the Rendezvous Grand Tasting & Chef Showcase.Below are a few highlights from this year’s Wine & Food Week lineup!

H-E-B Wine Walk at Market Street | June 6 @ 5:30 pm

The H-E-B Wine Walk at Market Street transforms the 34-acre space into an open-air wine & food street party. Nosh on selections from the top three restaurants in the Caribbean at the Aruba Tourism Culinary Center booth as well as 20+ more restaurants offering great bites. Grab a keepsake glass and enjoy a wine walkabout featuring a slew of wine industry experts sharing their fruit of the vine. Stroll from tasting station to wine tasting tents, shop, sip and stroll through Market Street.

Purchase a VIP Wine Walk Ticket to get an early start before the crowds arrive. Enjoy the finest wines and upscale food served in an air-conditioned lounge on Market Street.

Sips, Suds & Tacos | June 7 @ 6:00 pm

Wine and Food Week Sips Suds and Tacos

Woo Lawd! This event requires you to wear your stretchy pants and a sleeveless tank. At Sips, Suds & Tacos you are guaranteed to eat tons of tacos, while enjoying delicious wines and craft brews. Personally I find that it gets really hot in the ballroom where the event takes place. Hence the sleeveless tank suggestion.

The doors to Sips, Suds & Tacos open at 6:00 pm for wine and craft beer sampling. Meanwhile, top area chefs create their special taco and fill the room with mouthwatering aromas guaranteed to rev up any appetite. Then, it’s time to put the taco to the test!

At 6:30 pm, the tacos are served and it’s “game on” for the Taco Take-Down. Guests can choose their favorite taco while culinary judges choose theirs! The prize? The “Taco Takedown Trophy” coveted by area restaurants and chefs as they compete for the taco championship.

The Wine Rendezvous Grand Tasting & Chef Showcase | @ 7:00 pm

The grand finale of all grand finales! The Wine Rendezvous Grand Tasting & Chef Showcase is a celebration of all things food & wine. Considered one of the most spectacular wine and culinary events in the country, the Wine Rendezvous Grand Tasting & Chef Showcase, presents guests with the opportunity to slip into their finest attire and be in the company of serious wine enthusiasts and outstanding culinary talent. I look forward to meeting Bravo TV Top Chef Contender, Ron Duprat! Chef Dupart’s specialty of French fusion spiced with Caribbean flair is sure to wow the crows! Additionally, Dupart was recognized as one of the 10 African American chefs changing the food world.
