MainStreet America: Fine Furnishings + Fantastic Food

MainStreet America

MainStreet America  is the VISION of a master, custom home-builder to “create,” all-in-one place.  In turn making the PROCESS easier, faster, more convenient, more affordable and more entertaining for people who are looking to BUILD, REMODEL or FURNISH a CUSTOM HOME.

MainStreet America is located off of I-45N near 1960, and as someone who frequents that area, I have wondered just what MainStreet America was. While stuck in traffic on my way to the Woodlands I had a solid hour to come up with all kinds of ideas about what was inside this “castle.” Was it a retirement home, an indoor mall, a casino… nope, it’s a custom home builder’s playground!

When I walked in, my eyes were immediately  drawn out the back windows towards some of the most beautiful homes I’d ever seen. If you’re building your dream home, updating your current home or just plain nosey like my me and my mom, MainStreet America is the place to visit.

MSA’s star attraction is The Park, which features 12 spectacular custom model homes built by Design Tech Homes. Tour the fully furnished homes for ideas and design inspiration. You can buy everything you see – including the homes! The Tour admission is $20.00 per person and you can apply it towards the purchase of MainStreet America Membership.

But let’s get real, if there was no food here, would I even be telling you about it? No.

We tasted several items on the MAIN Kitchen menu and thoroughly enjoyed each dish.  The brisket is flavorful, bold and not too smokey. My taste buds were on sensory overload when with Chef’s Salted Caramel bread pudding. It’s finished with a sprinkling of Hawaiian black salt for a true “savory/sweet” mashup in your mouth. Not ashamed to say my mother and I fought over the last bite.. she won.

Chef Lawrence Fogarty is THE MAN behind the magic at MainStreet America, and by “magic” I mean grub! Chef Lawrence joined the MainStreet America team in fall 2012 and oversees the kitchens of MAIN Restaurant and Main Course Cooking School.

What I wasn’t expecting to find during my visit to MainStreet America was some of the best BBQ in Spring, Tx, but I did. Chef’s “sweet heat” bbq sauce, is like none other. It’s so good you don’t need the meat.. wait.. yes I do! The sauce is “sweet with a kick” and totally made my nachos, sandwiches and ribs zing! MainStreet America’s Main Course Cooking school is also offering a Houston Restaurant Week Dinner/Cooking Class special.  For $45 dollars guests can enjoy their own private cooking course led by Chef Lawrence. The meals change daily and consists of three delicious courses.

As it stands Main Kitchen closes at 3pm, but once you all visit I am certain those hours will change. I can’t wait to return, if for nothing else that Chef Lawrence’s succulent BBQ ribs!
