The epic 2017 culinary tour COCHON555 starts in New York City and travels all over the country highlighting the best of the best from Mom-and-Pop, farm-to-table, BBQ and Michelin star.  The COCHON555 Tour is making its stop in Houston, May 21 at Hughes Manor.

This nose-to-tail competition highlights 5 Chefs, 5 Pigs and 5 Wines. Though I do not consume pork, it’s only one aspect of the event. Guest can expect 40 + types of boutique wines, craft cocktails, and artisanal brews. Chefs and Winemakers from some of Houston’s hottest restaurants will compete for the title of  “Princess/Prince of Porc.”

Attempting to bring the crown home, to Houston are Chef Luis Roger of BCN Taste & Tradition, Chef Bobby Matos of State of Grace, Chef Felix Florez of Ritual, Chef Manabu ‘Hori’ Horiuchi of Kata Robata, and Chef Monica Pope of Sparrow Cookshop.

Created in 2008 in response to the lack of education around heritage breed pigs, COCHON555 is a nose-to-tail competition dedicated to supporting family farmers and educating chefs and diners about the agricultural importance of utilizing Old World livestock. Competition organizers work with every type of restaurant and bar imaginable – Mom-and-Pop, farm-to-table, BBQ, Michelin star – participating chefs all share one core value: they source products responsibly.

  1. Hi Renia! This is an awesome giveaway and I’m so excited that they are coming back to Houston this year and hopefully I’ll have a chance to attend! This seems like a very fun event and I really wanna see how the chefs use various parts of the pig! And also how they incorporate their style/taste into the preparation of the pork. I really wanna go! Pick me! ❤

  3. Hmm, I deserve (well I’d like rather than deserve) the tickets because I find pork to be such a versatile dish for wine paring. Red, white, and rose could easily pair so who else to appreciate the greatness of the chefs and winemakers?
