Celebrate National Burger Day with Craft Burger Food Truck at Deacon Baldy’s

Deacon Baldy’s – 5447 Fm 1488 Rd, Magnolia, TX–  is Magnolia’s newest hub for craft beers and food truck favorites. Owners Kevin and Joey have created an experience that combines robust beers and cocktails, a variety of cuisine from the best food trucks, and an inviting atmosphere for a wide range of ages and interests. The open-air bar is great for large groups and is perfect for the entire family. There are fun yard games for the kids, Flat screen TV’s for the sports junkies, a cool breeze from 3 Big Ass Fans (that’s really what they’re called), and community seating under the pavilion.

There’s was no doubt that Magnolia’s only Bar and Food Truck Park is just what this city needed. At Deacon Baldy’s the beer is always cold and food is served hot and fresh from the handful of food trucks on property. Though there are a variety of trucks on property, celebrate National Burger Day with Houston’s Chopped Champion, Chef Shannen Tune & Craft Burger Food Truck.

One of my personal favorite Chefs, Shannen Tune, is a regular at Deacon Baldy’s and I’ve literally eaten everything coming out of his food truck’s pick up window! Chef Tune not only serves some of the tastiest burgers that’ll ever grace your lips, but his tasty fries and shakes are unmatched.

I highly recommend you try two specific burgers from CBFT. The Craft Burger and Truffle Butter Juicy Lucy. The Craft Burger is topped with smoked Gouda and tomato jam, while the Truffle Butter Juicy Lucy is topped with shaved truffles and cheese curds. Good lawd!!

The “lamb poutine,” was a new experience. Simply because I’ve convinced myself that I don’t like lamb. I was totally surprised to discover that while I may not like lamb, I will eat THE HELL out of some lamb poutine. The succulent lamb melted like butter in my mouth! It’s texture paired perfectly with the cheese curds and crispy fries.

BEERS

Of course I didn’t leave with out trying a few beers. As you know, I am super indecisive about mostly everything in life. So when it came to the 40+ beers on tap I “tapped out,” and headed straight for the beer flights. It’s the best way (IMO) to taste a little bit of everything, and I take pride in that.

I like beers that are indicative of my persona: dark, boozy and scary to children. Below are my top 4 picks from Deacon Baldy’s beer menu. I stuck with my tried and true favorites this go round. Pro-Tip: Friday night is “$5 Flight Night,” so get out there champ!

OTHER TRUCKS

A couple of other trucks are also on property. Though I’d check the schedule to see the current list. The Lucky Fig by Chef, cookbook author, and TV personality Luca Manfe; Chef Joshua’s Southeast Asian BBQ truck, Beefy’s; and The Grove Dount Truck that serves everything from Banh Mi sandwiches to kronuts.

DESSERT

Last but certainly not least, I circled back around to The Grove for a couple of Kronuts. I’m a “KV” (kronut virgin) and can’t believe I’ve never had one of these crispy little donuts before. You would be happy to know that my friends and I split these two kronuts. The Strawberry Cheesecake and Nutella kronuts were cut in fours and then inhaled. Pure deliciousness.

The only caveat to this love fest that is Deacon Baldy’s happens to be it’s location. If you live in Magnolia or The Woodlands, you’re golden, but coming in from the city (or even Humble) like me, was a trek.
